My friendship with Laken started last summer, when I lost another one of my bottles and I was looking for a new friend to continue my travels and hikes with. Single-use plastic bottles are so out of fashion these days, and it’s one of the easiest ways to contribute to your smaller ecological footprint. I have left this bottle to sunbathe in the scorching Estonian summer sun, and filled it with hot tea, I have taken it outside in the bitter cold and used it for almost a year in absolutely all kinds of conditions. I’ll be honest, I’ve completely tested this bottle. And you know what? This bottle has absolutely not disappointed me. Rather the opposite. Laken has pleasantly surprised me, and I dare to recommend it more and more to everyone who is looking for a new bottle. I’d say Laken is even pretty modest in his goodness. The thermos bottle really keeps warm and also cold as promised. Even on this insanely hot summer day, the water in the bottle was still refreshingly nice. This experiment actually came out by accident when I had forgotten my bottle outside my summer house, where the sun shines all day long. Looking for the bottle in the evening and finding it in the middle of the lawn, I was absolutely sure that the cold water added in the morning had warmed up, because it had been basking in the sun for at least 6 hours. I tried – and much to my surprise the water was still freezing cold. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised!
It is also said that many thermoses get so-called sweaty. I have never noticed this with Laken. Every time I take hot tea with me on my adventures, the tea stays nicely and patiently warm in the thermos until I pour it into a mug – the bottle is not sweaty or unpleasant in any way. It was very bitterly cold when I went to the Loomus march earlier this year. We brought a thermos of tea with us. By the end of the event, it was already bone-chilling, and knowing that we were able to take 0.7 liters of hot drink with us made me so happy. I really thought it had cooled down a bit because it had been in my bag for quite a few hours. In reality, I burned my mouth and stated that next time I would have to be more careful or bring cooler tea.
