Chaga is a widely occurring mushroom parasitic on birch trees. It is irregular in shape and has a distinctive black colour resulting from high consentrations of melanin. Chaga is indigenous to Asia and the Russia Taiga, where it was commonly used as early as the 16th century. It was known to the Chinese court over 2000 years ago. In recent years, it has become a subject of considerable scientific and clinical interest. More information on the effects of this herb can be found in freely available literature.
